Minnesota's Jacob "Christmas" Volkmann will join two fellow Minnesotans at UFC 116.
Volkmann announced on Facebook last week that he has signed on to fight July 3 at UFC 116, which will feature a main event of Minnesota's Brock Lesnar against fellow wrestler Shane Carwin.
Volkmann's opponent, which hasn't been made public by the UFC, will be Paul Kelly (10-2), according to mmajunkie.com. Both Kelly and Volkmann are former welterweights who recently made the drop to 155.
Volkmann (10-2) is coming off of his first UFC victory, a split decision over Ronnys Torres at UFC Fight Night 21. The Minnesota Martial Arts Academy-trained fighter had opened his UFC career with a pair of losses at 170 to Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann.
This will be Kelly's fourth ever apperance at lightweight. He recently picked up his third win in four fights when he notched a submission over Matt Veach at UFC 112. Kelly's only two losses were against Marcus Davis and Dennis Siver, both in the UFC.
UFC 116 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Lesnar will be making his return to the cage after a one-year layoff due to illness. Carwin (12-0) was named the UFC's interim heavyweight champion while Lesnar (4-1) was away from the sport.
Also on the July 3 card in Las Vegas is Minnesota's Chris Tuchscherer, who will take on "The Ultimate Fighter" finalist Brendan Schaub. Tuchscherer (18-2) is coming off of his first UFC win, a majority decision over Tim Hague at UFC 109. Schaub (4-1) lost to Roy Nelson in the
