A pair of the Midwest’s top 155-pounders are set to square off Saturday in Cloquet, Minn.

Ashkan Morvari will meet Derek Abram for the 155-pound championship belt during Fearless Fighting Championship 3 at Black Bear Casino in Cloquet on Saturday.

Abram will bring a 10-11 record into the fight, though he holds a win over Marcus Levesseur. Abram fought three times in 2009, going 1-2, with one loss against Carey Vanier, who recently signed with Bellator.

Morvari’s record isn’t clear ... he’s one of those fighters whose record is lost because promoters struggle with the spelling. He’s about 10-2 (I know he has losses to Steve Merth and Travis “Carefree” Perzynski). Morvari is a high-paced fighter who always puts on a good show.

Saturday’s event also will feature a four-man 170-pound tournament, and an intriguing matchup between Dave Strasser-trained Eric Lockaby and Minnesota Martial Arts Academy trained Brandon Buchholz.

UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock also will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures.

Fights are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are available through ticketmaster or Fearless Fighting Championship’s Web site, which can be accessed here.
