CFX is returning to its owners hometown as Brock Larson brings his organization to the Brainerd Armory on Saturday night.

Tickets for Saturday's show start at $20. Doors open at 6 p.m. and fights are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

There are two pro fights on the card. The main event features Matt Lagou against Derek Smith.

Lagou is from Minnesota, but he's been out in Las Vegas training with Wanderlei Silva. He's currently 1-0 as a professional.

Lagou is ranked No. 9 in Minnesota at 205 pounds, but he'll drop down to 185 to take on Smith.

Smith had been ranked at 185, but a couple of recent losses knocked him out of the rankings. He's 6-5 as a pro.

Smith suffered a loss to No. 4-ranked Cully Butterfield last August, and he dropped a fight to national standout Chris Lozano in June.

"It's actually a really good fight," matchmaker Gavin Rydell said. "Derek is a great athlete. When he's training and focused, he's as good as anybody at 185. He has some very good wins on his record. And all of his losses are to top guys. Matt is a fighter on the rise. He's got some talent, but it will be interesting to see if he can put it all together. Obviously training with Wanderlei helps. I think it's a tough, even fight."

The other pro fight on the card is a rematch. FAFIA's Rocco Maggiore is taking on Chad Vaudrin.

The two fought at a King of the Cage show previously, though for some reason the fight has not been entered into the MMA Database.

Maggiore won that fight in the second round. Vaudrin had Maggiore in a triangle choke for the entire first round, but Vaudrin didn't finish it.

Maggiore caught Vaudrin in a submission of his own in the second round.

Maggiore is looking to get back on track, though. He recently dropped out of the rankings at 135-and-below after losing two of his last three fights. His losses are to Travis Reddinger and Marvin Blumer. Maggiore is 3-2 as a professional.

Vaudrin is listed as 1-4 as a pro, though he's had far more fights and more victories. He was the coach at Anytime Fight Club because it shut down. He's been training in Minnesota now at Spartan.

"Chad wanted the rematch, and Rocco was happy to do it," Rydell said. "It will be an interesting fight. Chad had Rocco beat in the first fight if he had just done something to finish the triangle. His legs burned out after that and he lost in the second. Rocco is a great submission guy. So I think this will be a fun fight to watch on the ground."

There also are six amateur fights on the  card. Most of the amateurs are newcomers from northern Minnesota.

Matchups include Tra Ewalt vs. Devion Clark at 145, Robert Gebur vs. Dillon McFarlan at 145, Geoff Latch vs. Tomas Heaton at 170, Tanner Nunn vs. Corey Soine at 205, Larry Love vs. Matt Compton at 170 and Stetson Ewalt vs. Angel Pacheco at 155.
